Reflecting our motto “Loving God, Loving People”, every aspect of our life as a worshipping community is characterised by praise and worship in all its richness. Worship is an active expression of our relationship with our Lord and may take many forms including how we work, what we produce and the way in which we go about our daily lives.
Within our church life we enjoy a diverse range of expressions of worship and praise, most frequently of a contemporary style, but also including more traditional elements as well as the use of other performing arts and visual/audio prompts.
We are blessed with a range of songwriting gifts and encourage the development of a song of praise which is uniquely St John’s through the use of this original material as well as more well-recognised songs. All ages are involved and we are very proud of our youth praise bands who that take an active part in our services and in outreach events.
A number of teams come together to make up the environment which helps us in our worship and praise including sound team, audio/visual team, praise bands, banner group and visual arts contributors, and these teams come under the leadership of the elder with responsibility for praise and worship. All contributors are encouraged to improve their gifts through training and skills sharing and to meet and pray together.
It is an important principle that those who share in this wonderful ministry to the church and to our community are firstly worshippers, secondly servants of the church and thirdly have specific gifts in their area of expression.
