I remember well the time in my life when I first said yes to Jesus. Many people I know can testify to a time when they prayed that simple prayer of repentance, and by faith asked Jesus into their lives. I didn’t realise it at the time, but saying yes to Jesus would not be a one off experience. It was something I was to discover that I needed to do daily.
On Tuesday night we heard some amazing stories of folk who had said yes to Jesus. I would not be here today had it not been for someone who asked me if I would like to ask Jesus into my life. I then prayed a simple prayer, confessing my sins, asking forgiveness and inviting Jesus into my life. Many of us will have had the same experience.
Matthew 16:24 encourages us to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus. Personally I have been very challenged by that verse. It of course will mean different things to different people. At the very least though, I do think that it means being prepared to share with others the hope that we have found in Jesus, and why we are a Christian.
