During the month of July we enjoyed a youth beach trip to North Berwick where we supported the Bathgate youth workers by driving the mini bus and building relationships with some great young people from the Outsiders Club.
We also had a great home church in Ross and Jo’s home looking at what the word Holiday means and how we try to find some precious time to rest. Relationships are growing between St John’s and the Bathgate group and many attend on a Sunday morning when they can.
We are greatly looking forward to expanding the work in Bo’ness in the coming months. There is a huge amount of enthusiasm and excitement as we anticipate where God might take us. Most of the town has been prayer walked and we are ready to take the next steps towards planting a church.
Having been introduced as chaplain to the players and committee at Linlithgow Rose David Todd has been attending home games and trying to get to training once a week. “I’m getting to know some of the fans and generally being around to serve in whatever way I can. I’ve been fully welcomed and accepted and so far I haven’t seen them lose!”
Following our very successful joint service with our brothers and sisters at Polmont Old, Church of Scotland, a further meeting has been held with the minister to discuss the response of the Kirk Session. It is clear that further discussion is needed to ensure that there is no confusion as to our intention, but in the meantime we are looking forward to our ‘lovely neighbours’ BBQ on August 19th which will be an outreach event for our community enabling us to build or strengthen relationships with the people we see but often fail to engage with.
We are gearing up to our first ‘pray for our community’ evening in the Autumn which we hope will bring together those with a heart for mission in Polmont in a new expression of local church as we look to build a foundation for activity here.
We have had a few key people move out of the area recently which has reduced our coverage and resources somewhat, so pray that the Lord will send more committed workers into these vineyards.
